The Hainanese Bohs
My mum told me that for the Hainanese, they don’t call people by “Ah’s”, but “Boh’s”
Meaning if your name is Wong Ah Kau, they won’t call you “Ah Kau”, but “Boh Kau” instead.
If your name is Chek Hong, you would be called “Boh Hong”. (Sounds like Bohong, doesn’t it?)

Those who speak/understand Hainanese will appreciate this piece better I think! :)
Sexymom, your PING in PPS? You need to use the permalink. The one with the long, long line one?
But nice to have you PING to PPS! The more moms PING, the merrier! BTW, why got sexymom and sexymama? You got split personality issit?
So, from now on, I am Boh Lian. Yay! That nicer than being Ah Lian.
boh also means auntie is it??
my cousin auntie... i follow all call
tua boh
ji boh
etc
For the aunties, the Boh sounds like "bore" but with a hard ending.
The prefix boh just sound like "Bo".
but i think the "ah kau" become "boh kau"
the boh is more accurate if to pronounce as BOAT or BOK
hahahah
hainanese forum anyone?
