Quake proof houses
Now the government wants to build earthquake-proof houses, and some idiots have suggested to increase the piling requirements. Stupid.
Not all houses need piling, and piling is not the most suitable for low rises residential houses. Very often most houses build on solid ground don't need piling at all. But contractors make a lot of money from that, and they will tell the house owners it's necessary to have piling, otherwise not safe blah blah blah.... and the houseowners just buta-buta (blindly) buy into it.
You think the government is going to change the laws that make the house earthquake proof? Unless some miracle happen, that will take a long long long long time.
